It was a dark and stormy night when Jill and Leah set forth from Bendigo to the big city. Down the Calder Highway and onto the freeway.

Left onto Brunswick Road and through the top end of Carlton to Westgarth Street and finally arriving at the Grand View Hotel in Heidelberg Road - How Scary for small Lion Leah.

But what a welcome and what a meal!

After Steak and Chips for Leah and Barrumundi for Jill they got to hear about all the good things that the Fairfield Club have done for 45 years since their charter.

One of the main projects at the moment is the new units being built at the Lionsville Village in Victoria Street. The units are well under construction for completion later this year.

Another project is the assistance they give to homeless youth to get them off the streets of Melbourne.

They also run a Christmas BBQ each year for the Boral Company and the gates at the Collingwood Children's Farm monthly Farmer's Market.

Leah had a great time surveying the wine menu and got a bit tiddly on Chardonnay. She slept all the way home - back up the highway, through the Black Forest, the fog and cold.
